Arsenal legend Ian Wright hasn’t been mincing his words over Alexis Sanchez of late and speaking ahead of the Gunners’ League Cup victory over West Ham on Tuesday, the former player took his ridicule up a few notches.
The Chile international has been the subject of much transfer speculation for well over a year now and as his current Arsenal deal winds down towards expiration at the end of the current season, there is still no resolution in sight.
As time drags on and fans are no closer to knowing just what is to become of the dynamic and talented 29-year-old, it appears the player’s form has been in something of a steady decline.
Having joined the London club in 2014, Sanchez has, until this season, been a goalscoring match-winner, a player who was tenacious on and off the ball. With 77 goals, his record and performance made him an easy fan-favourite.
Watching his almost disinterested efforts this season is both worrying and frustrating. If he is trying to force his way out of the club in January, he is certainly going about it in a risky way.
